Where the Candidates Stand On Hiring a Permanent Superintendent

All RIH BOE candidates agree that the district needs to hire a new permanent Superintendent (who will then need to hire a new Business Administrator AND a new Curriculum Director).

The difference is in their plan. Audrey Souders, Melissa Kiel, and Jared Geist are criticizing their opponents currently on the Board for not rushing to hire a new permanent Superintendent now. What’s the rush?

Vivian King, Amy Eilert and Brian DeLaite all believe that the new Board seated in January, under new leadership, should own the search process to hire a new permanent Superintendent - from hiring the search firm, to conducting the search and interviews, to signing the contract. In fact, one sitting Board member said he discussed the options with 6 current Superintendents, all of whom recommended the same thing: Hire an Interim Superintendent, let things settle down, take your time.
