New Flash: New Superintendent Hired while the Interim Superintendent is Fired Immediately

NEWS FLASH: The RIH BOE just appointed Dr. Ronnie Tarchichi as Superintendent. Mr. Tarchichi was previously employed by the Pennsauken Township Board of Education in Camden County. He will begin at RIH in July.
The Board went back into closed session to discuss additional personnel matters. They did not say whether or not further action may be taken this evening.
Second news flash: The Board voted 7-0-2 with 2 abstentions to terminate Dr. James Baker as Interim Superintendent, effective immediately. Abstentions were Kiel and Souders.
The Board voted 5-4 to appoint Dr. Quackenbush as Acting Interim Superintendent until Dr. Tarchichi arrives.
YES votes for Dr. Quackenbush came from Ansh, Emmolo, Kiel, Mariani and Souders.
NO votes for Quackenbush came from Bogdansky, DeLaite, Lorenz and Koulikourdis.

The new RIH Superintendent contract has been posted. Dr. Tarchichi will make a salary of $280,000 in his first year, with 3% increases in each of the remaining 4 years of the five year contract (a salary of $315K in year 5). The contract also allows 5 weeks of vacation, 19 holidays, and 4 personal days. The total year 1 contract cost inclusive of benefits is $345,485.
